Wonder Woman History. The character is a founding member of the Justice League. Tracing Wonder Woman's growth affords Daniels an opportunity to comment on comic history and the evolution of women's role in society over the same time period, making for insightful reading.
Wonder Woman was originally sculpted from clay by her mother, but censors grew uncomfortable with the idea of a fatherless child, so her origin was reworked and she became a descendant of Olympian. Or so, at least, it was made to appear. The fictional DC Comics' character Wonder Woman, was created by William Moulton Marston.

She was born from the soil of the earth in the image of the gods and raised by Amazonian women as a powerful fighter and a compassionate woman.
But, really, the name of Wonder Woman's creator was the least of her secrets. Considering the complete history of Wonder Woman's past, she is the perfect candidate for being a feminist superhero because her obstacles are relatable to those of any woman who's strength has ever been undermined by her beauty or femininity. Marston envisioned his creation as a feminist icon, and that is exactly what she became, boasting a cultural presence that far exceeded that of a typical comic character.
